Bad versus evil.

A great storm is not evil any more than is disease. It is bad, yes. But it is a simple manifestation of natural law. Get used to it, get through it, get over it. And we will. In the current Gulf Coast catastrophe, however, we do see evil. Not in every case of the despicable rape, looting and parasitism that has risen in the area. Many of those acts are the product of weak, aimless minds without a basis in rational life. Just shoot them and move on. Real evil is the result of intent and design. Real evil is encouraging and excusing the perpetrators of these acts.

I might add that at this moment, 14:30 PDT, Friday, real evil is justifying the snipers in the BellSouth building who are firing on firefighters and Sherrif's deputies.

Where we see true evil is in the forces that feed upon and nurture the fear and misery of the storm victims. The parasites of the media who seek out and encourage every available victim with a grudge that can be directed against the President and by extension, the United States and the American People. These are the sycophants wearing out their knees worshipping the monstrous idols of hatred in our time - Stalin, Mao, Castro and Hussein - and their would-be successors, the Kennedys, Clintons, Kleagles and Kerrys.

These are the minions of the Collectivist Nuts Network - like Wolfie and the Weasels (an insult to the Mustilidae), and the unspeakably oily Ball-less Matthews and Brain-dead Williams of Misery Sellers Needing Bad Cess still mooning over his spineless coup of 09/11/01, pining for another "underground bunker" meme. These are the persons who can label the President cynical (a lie) for showing up immediately and callous (a lie) if he does not. Now, who is cynical? Who is callous? Who lies while people die?

These are the persons who spread the impression that "global warming" (caused by Bush) is increasing tropical cyclone frequency (a lie). These are the feeders on human life that will do everything in their power to retard and prevent a mighty nation from healing and repairing itself and attempt to assign guilt to every effort to create life from the ruins. And life is what they truly hate. Make no mistake; this is not just another passing political contretemps in the normal, messy course of the life of the nation. This is war against not only a man and a party; it is war against life.

These are the vampires of the soul and the eaters of conciousness. They wish for death, for us and for themselves. Without the productive individuals who feed them they would not exist. Get a clue folks. It is not they who are ultimately guilty, since none of them have ability to sustain their own lives without our support. They are irremedial parasites - from choice - and they must not be fed any longer.

Update As I close this, 15:00 PDT, CNN's Lou "Clueless" Dobbs, introducing the President's remarks, is attempting to foment racial discord by suggesting that more of New Orleans' black population is suffering because they are being deliberately neglected.

Oh, That...

It's a shame to strike a sour note into this glorious morning, but the bottom feeders are with us always. In contrast to the quiet professionalism of the NASA personel and their narrative, MSNBC mounts a campaign of if, if, if, and but, but, but. Led by their carrion-eater-in-chief, Brian Williams, the station can hardly wait for another cataclysm.

It is reminiscent of the general wish for failure and destruction among the press. As Sissy Willis covered yesterday and this post on Sunday on the BBC program "The Power of Nightmares", positing that Al Queada and terrorism are a figment of our (read Bush/Blair) imaginations, these organizations have a positive death-wish. That would be just fine if they kept it to themselves; they should get what they want. It would certainly clear the air - and lots of nice co-ops.

GOOD NEWS

According to Fox News, today at noon, the missing Utah Cub Scout, Brennan Hawkins, has been found alive and with "no major injuries", in the Lily Lake area, some distance from the scout camp.

Update 13:00 PDT

11 year-old Brennan Hawkins was found dehydrated, a little weak and very hungry, but in remarkably good shape, according to Summit Co. Utah Sheriff Dave Edmunds. The young Cub Scout was found by a volunteer on an ATV, near a trail and had seen horses previously, but was afraid to approach them.

When found, he drank a considerable amount of water and ate "all the food the searchers had on them". After saying he wanted to see his mom, he then settled down to play a video game on a searcher's cell phone. He was in good enough condition that a Medevac helicopter was not neccesary.

Sheriff Duncan stated that Brennan was also lucky in that the weather has been mild, dry, and with lows in the 50's, but that rain is expected tonight.

He is now with his family at a Salt Lake City hospital.

Oh, That...

On Tuesday night, the Collectivist Nuts Network's Jane Arraf reported while with US and Iraqi soldiers on a search for murderers in Baghdad. An Iraqi squad searching an apparently empty house found what looked like a bomb making manual (shown on camera) and said this proved to them that there were terrorists there. Her narration: "But they won't say how". (they know). Maybe it was with the "cookbooks".

In Case You Missed It.

Hearing a 30 second snippet on Collectivist Nuts Network last night I checked out leading stories on Fridays report by Brig. Gen. Jay Hood, the commander of the Guantanamo detention center. CNN on line had this, down three levels:

Pentagon on Friday released new details about mishandling of the Quran at the Guantanamo Bay prison for terror suspects, confirming that a soldier deliberately kicked the Muslim holy book, and that an interrogator stepped on a Quran and was later fired for "a pattern of unacceptable behavior."

Starting at paragraph twelve (of twenty) was this OBTW:

Probe: Detainees also defiled Qurans.

Hood also said his investigation found 15 cases of detainees mishandling their own Qurans. "These included using a Quran as a pillow, ripping pages out of the Quran, attempting to flush a Quran down the toilet and urinating on the Quran," Hood's report said. It offered no possible explanation for those alleged abuses.

Perhaps we need to call for an investigation of the lack of round, smooth stones in Cuba.

In the most recent of those 15 cases, a detainee on February 18, 2005, allegedly ripped up his Quran and handed it to a guard, stating that he had given up on being a Muslim. Several of the guards witnessed this, Hood reported.

C.I.A. Expanding Terror Battle Under Guise of Charter Flights

SMITHFIELD, N.C. The airplanes of Aero Contractors Ltd. take off from Johnston County Airport here, then disappear over the scrub pines and fields of tobacco and sweet potatoes. Nothing about the sleepy Southern setting hints of foreign intrigue. Nothing gives away the fact that Aero's pilots are the discreet bus drivers of the battle against terrorism, routinely sent on secret missions to Baghdad, Cairo, Tashkent and Kabul.

Ask yourself, if you were an agent of Al Qaeda, if the following information holds any interest.

Aero Contractors' planes dropped C.I.A. paramilitary officers into Afghanistan in 2001; carried an American team to Karachi, Pakistan, right after the United States Consulate there was bombed in 2002; and flew from Libya to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, the day before an American-held prisoner said he was questioned by Libyan intelligence agents last year, according to flight data and other records.

Flight logs show a C.I.A. plane left Dulles within 48 hours of the capture of several Al Qaeda leaders, flying to airports near the place of arrest. They included Abu Zubaida, a close aide to Osama bin Laden, captured on March 28, 2002; Ramzi bin al-Shibh, who helped plan 9/11 from Hamburg, Germany, on Sept. 10, 2002; Abd al-Rahim al-Nashri, the Qaeda operational chief in the Persian Gulf region, on Nov. 8, 2002; and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the architect of 9/11, on March 1, 2003.

I will not extract any further here, as the article is primarily a page+ elaboration of the following:

The location of airfields in the USA and abroad used by the various "cover" companies for these operations.

Routes, times and dates of some missions, most of them extremely secret.

Names of "persons of interest" transported on these missions.

Names and locations of reputed officers of the various companies, illustrated by a nearly half-page chart.

Aircraft types, including a front-page photograph and three drawings including the tail numbers.

What have we here? Investigative journalism in the great tradition of Dan Rather, Eason Jordan and Jayson Blair. Or maybe espionage conducted against your own country, in the manner of Daniel Ellsberg and Antony Russo. Of course the paper may simply be following the tradition of its most hallowed name, Walter Duranty , who garnered circulation for the paper and a Pulitzer for himself while spending twelve years on his knees under Joe Stalin's desk.

Of course there's another possibility. Maybe they're hedging a bet here and looking to the future. If the great thugocracy of fanatics and murderers should win, why leave an upstart like Al Jazeera in charge of propaganda, when the Grey Lady carries so much more weight?

Addendum: I was going to close with a question. "Just whom would you prefer watching your kids in a hostile neighborhood, the C.I.A. or the New York Times.

Pentagon denies Rumsfeld authorized downing plane

This morning, the Washington Ghost cited anonymous accounts by federal officials that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld (not anonymous) had given authorization to shoot down the Cessna aircraft that caused widespread evacuations in the Capitol on May 11. The Pentagon said that it is not so.

WASHINGTON (Rooters) - The Pentagon said on Wednesday Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld did not authorize the military to shoot down a small plane that prompted evacuations of Washington power centers on May 11.

Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman, (not anonymous) said Rumsfeld gave no such authorization. and added:

"I don't know how they got it so wrong."

Maybe someone could give Mr. Whitman a clue. Like, Consider the Source!

I must be only the 6,432 x 10⁶ person to come to the concusion that the words anonymous, sole, confidential and reliable sources create a very dark glass indeed: one through which we now see the stark difference in credibility between a huge, often secretive military establishment and the Free Press.
